Roofing debris is the heaviest thing most homeowners ever put in a dumpster. Planning ahead keeps your tear-off on schedule and your bill predictable.
How heavy are shingles?
One "square" of roofing (100 sq ft) of architectural asphalt shingles weighs roughly 250–400 lbs per layer. A 25-square roof with one layer can easily run 3–4 tons once you add underlayment, nails and any rotted decking. Two layers? Plan for double.
Picking the right rental window
Most single-family tear-offs in Ionia County are done in one to three days, but Michigan weather doesn't always cooperate. Our 7-day rental at $400 gives your crew room for a rain delay without paying for extensions.
Placement tips
- Place the dumpster as close to the eave as the driveway allows to cut down on carrying.
- Keep it clear of overhead lines and low branches.
- Ask for boards under the contact points if your driveway is newer concrete or asphalt.
